The only things in life you regret are the risks you didn't take.

Male dog pooping and walking

My sister-in-law has a male dog that poops when he walks. Is this normal for male dogs (to walk and poop at the same time)? (I had a female dog when I was in middle school and she always stopped and pooped.)

Victims of circumstance owe it to fate. Victims of choice owe it to themselves.

My son rescued a dog that was badly abused. The dog would lift his leg to pee and would poop at the same time. Ya gotta' fool the masters.

I don't know if this is any help or not.

Dog lover,

Is this a large dog? Maybe he thinks he's a horse or a cow, they poop as they walk. Was he raised around large farm animals? If he has seen other animals doing this he may have picked this up through observation. Alot of dogs (and cats) learn by watching. Has he always done this or is he an older dog that has just started this  practice. If he has hip dysplasia or arthritic joints it could be hard for him to assume the normal stance and he prefers to be upright when he goes. And walking tends to stimulate the muscles, so maybe it's easier for him this way. Or maybe he's just to lazy to stop and squat, or maybe he likes to multi-task, this way he can do two things at one time.

He's about 2.5 years old, a yorkie mix (not sure the other half). It's so strange that he walks and poops. I've never seen this before in a male dog. I have 3 female dogs and I guess I just assumed male dogs did their business the same way. Maybe it's his short stumpy legs, because he does poop a lot for an 11-lb. dog.
