Listening to music, how can one tell if it is major or minor key?
Music written in minor keys is often sounds sad or scary. Music written in a major key usually sounds happy and optimistic. But the real ability to identify the musical key takes practice and listening experience.
I sure wish that there are ways for someone like me to hear the difference.
I think the commonly you can find the minor songs to be more high pitched, emotional and often sad as opposed to the major songs which are more whole and complete.
Hope I helped..

Major key sounds 100% optimistic, while with minor you might have a doubt :)
Love your life.
Your best bet to know is ask someone who plays an instrument !
I guess you can't identify the intervals in a chord. You hear them but can't identify a minor 3rd as opposed to a major third.
You could pratice this. Thru repatition it would quickly become apparent.
