TODAY IS 9/11/2009. I am a native New Yorker, who was living in NY when 9/11 happened. Looking at the pictures in the MSN homepage article,
http://www.newsweek.com/id/215066?GT1=43002
reprinted, I'm sure, from this week's NEWSWEEK, I noticed a very strange thing... The article shows, in 18 pictures, the rise and fall and rebuilding, of the World Trade Center...with dates on each picture. The picture that shows the completing of the WTC, is dated 1972. BUT I REMMBER RIDING INTO MANHATTAN, FROM QUEENS, FOR WEEKLY STENOTYPE LESSONS, WITH MY DAD IN 1966-1967, AND SEEING THE COMPLETED TWIN TOWERS....AND THINKING HOW MUCH THEY ALTERED, AND, (TO MY MIND THEN), SPOILT THE MANHATTAN SKYLINE....AS THEY WERE S O TALL, AND MADE EVERYTHING ELSE, (INCLUDING THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING), LOOK SMALL AND INSIGNIFICANT!)
I DID ride with my dad in 1966-1967, into Manhattan. It COULDN'T have been later -- because he died in 1967, and neither my mom, nor I, drove a car at that point.
I never mentioned my opinion about the World Trade Center's spoiling the Mahattan skyline to my dad, because I thought it was so obvious. And -- I knew I saw it, then -- so I supposed he saw it too.
How could this have happened? Did the World Trade Center take it's full shape in 1966-1967, and not in 1972? Is the Newsweek-MSN article above wrong? Or did I have a psychic experience, each week, without realizing it? I mean, I SAW it there, every week, ("ruining" the Manhattan skyline), as we rode into Manhatten from Queens, for at least 6 months...and maybe even 12 months.
I'm REALLY confused about this. Could someone help me on it?
