Which MGA Model?

I intend to buy an MGA, a car I liked since the first time I saw as a kid. Is the 1600cc model more reliable than the 1500cc model? Which one handles better?

The problematic MGA model was the twin-cam, so I'd try to buy something else. But frankly, I think you should consider very carefully buying any MGA you find, there aren't to many around.

I agree with arthuro.  Be careful buying a classic car like an mga.  I would suggest looking at sports cars. Sports cars can be as fun as driving classic cars.  Smile

I would this agree with this, it depends on how you choose a classic cars, its just the same as

used cars for sale on the market. You should be careful on choosing what car to buy.

Depends on what you are looking to do with the car. These cars are as reliable as any other '20's technology car- that's right- 1920' technology! Are you a 'shade tree' mechanic or totally clueless with mechanical things? Buy the best car you can afford. Good luck finding the most coveted:  a Twin Cam model (I can't afford one or I'd have one or more!). Get a professional appraisal if not interested in researching these cars. But, if you gotta do that then just get a Miata and be done with it! I have a '58 and do all the work myself. Many parts, including some body panels, are readily available (example of  suppliers:  Moss, Victoria British and etc.). These cars are very simple to repair. Go to MGAguru dot com for interesting articles. I love MGA's! A TRUE sports car has 2 seats, is convertible and has NO roll up windows.
