The guy seeks your company and starts making excuses to be near you, looking for reasons to talk to you either in person or in other ways (phone, messaging, etc.). When you're together in the same room he's looking at you even if not necessary. When making a list he would often start with you.

If you're lucky and he's quite the gentleman, he's also usually more considerate than the accepted norm, bit some guys are overcome by their embarrassment, and might  actually act more shy than usual.

You can usually know by the fact a guy tries to be as much around you as possible or from the fact that he strikes up a conversation for no apparent reason. These are the clearest signs I know.

Never Quit! Never Give Up!

they will either pay extra attention to you or totally ignore you.  they will be nice or be a total jerk.  they will give you all they have or they will take all they can get.  in other words, you just have to know when it's right.

Yeah, they either totally ignore you or try to be around you all they can; go figure.  However, if they totally tend to treat you rudely (as some think this is a form of endearment), run unless you like being treated like this because, chances are, that won't get any better.

Eye contact for more than three seconds is a great give away. Also as is the person licking their lips while speaking to you.

Body language is the keySmile
