Dear Phil, As with all elected Governmental people they are immune to prosecution under the Constitution of the United States. In only a few instances has a Congressman or Senator prosecuted under the laws of this Nation. However, the lie must be so blatent that it affects the very structure of their constituancy. Although I agree with you that when an elected official lies they should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, unfortunately that does not seem to work. I do want to tell you that I totally agree with you and you ideas of prosecuting wayward elected officals as they are supposed to be a shinning light in the darkness of the night, but, unfortunately for us the laws don't necessarily work.
