Lung cancer test results Cancer or Not

My husband recently underwent a lung biopsy on a tumor that was found and it showed necrotic cell and non-diagnostic. A CT was then done  and showed mediastinal LNs. A Upper Endoscopic Ultrasound was then performed and it showed multiple large hypoechoic subcarinal LNs. No celiac LNs were seen. The initial test showed no cancer cells at the office but was sent to a pathologist for results just to confirm. What does all this mean ?  The doctor after the lung biopsy just told me that the tumor sample tested came back as dead cells. I don't quite understand does it mean he doesnt have lung cancer or what. His elevated alpha-feto protein level and lung lesion is why they suspected the cancer in the first place.

Hi, my name is Rita.

I have been taking "Sutent" for 2 months for Lung Cancer!  I was told that I have lesions on both lungs.  I completed 2 treatments and now need a CT scan.  I had a bad cough at the beginng and now I don't.  So I am hoping that the meds helped.  As far as your question,  It means NO CANCER!!Smile

I honestly don't know, the only time I've heard the expression dead cells was when no live cancerous cells were found so phone your oncologists secretary to try and get this question answered,in order that you are clearly informed and do not worry,I'll pray for you and your husband to get good news
