Low potassium

I have been taking potassium for a couple of years, was going into surgery on last tuesday, and they didn't do it because I forgot to take the forty milagrams, that I take a day. I take 50 milagrams of a water pill, so I am now takeing three of the potassium pills which brings it up to 60 mils now, so I can have surgery this coming tues. Also my level was at a 2.5 and should be at a 4. Now the left side of my face is alittle numb, so am I taking to much now? And I am also eating potassium foods.I also feel alittle light headed. What the heck?

Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.

The symptoms of too much potassium (hyperkalemia) are palpitations, muscle weakness and a generally unwell feeling, so your lightheadedness and numbness are probably not caused by this.

The diuretic pills and potassium supplements may be causing some other type of imbalance in your body.  Your physician needs to be advised of your problems.

Are you perhaps taking laxatives as well. wate tablets and laxatives purge your body of essential nutrients especially potassium. Try drinking a tea made from dandelion leaf which is a diuretic that will improve potassium levels.
