Low fuel light/gas guage

I have a 1991 Dodge Dynasty and last week the low fuel light came on and I filled up the tank. The light has remained on. The guage on the gas tank has also remained on full since filling up. Any ideas on how to remedy this issue?

Just let it go, theres no sense fighting for it.

How did you acquire your car?

Used Cars For Sale from car auctions usually have this problem because the fuel gauge are so old... Yes gauges can be old. Your car is great and I think that it can either be in the gas gauge or in the dash gauge problem. are your other gauge working properly? it is cheap to get this fix any ways. It can also be the measuring device in the chamber, which is more expensive. Get a professional to check it up or if you know the gas consumption of your car, drive with this problem till you get it sold.

It sounds like you may have lost the ground to the tank, but it could also be the sending unit in the tank went bad. The guages are usualy durable, so they don't go bad as aften, but they do go bad. Also make sure all your fuses are in and good, even if it dos'nt pertane to the problem. Somtimes when a fuse is blown, the path to ground changes. Iv'e been a tech for 37 yrs. and seen this alot, but mosty on the newer cars.
