The answer my friend is blowing in the wind....

Low fat milk causes prostate cancer

A new study says that low-fat milk can lead to prostate cancer.  Now, I'm totally confused and don't know what to drink. I also read years back that drinking whole milk is bad for you because it has too much fat in it and clogs your arteries.  I know that fat isn't good for the body, but how do I know what milk to drink now.  Or is it better for people to not drink/eat dairy anymore? What do you think about this article?

Live life to the fullest.

I am very skeptical about this study. For sure whole milk is not good for the arteries; but I'm having a hard time believing that low fat milk causes prostate cancer. I think more double-blind studies with more representative samples need to be conducted before this claim can be legitimized.

Is the comfort of Lord, GOD small within you?

I believe this article is true, if the milk is not strained it can lead to all kinds of ailments.  Not only the injections that are given to cows to fatten them up needs to stop but also the grass they eat needs to be refertilized.

I asked an oncologist who told me that this study is not conclusive. While there is a connection between low fat milk and early development of prostate cancer no connection was found with advanced stages of prostate cancer. But there is good news, low fat milk seems to prevent breast cancer.

I have a feeling that it's not the low fat content that causes the cancer but rather other factors having to do with the way the cows are grown and the food they get. As far as I know there isn't any reason to suspect that in the process of skimming the milk a carcinogenic factor in added.

More tests and studies need to be preformed before final conclusions can be reached.

I believe that it is the Vitamin A palmitate in the low-fat milk that increases the incidence of prostate cancer. Whole milk (which is only 3.5% fat content) contains retinyl esters which are more easily absorbed by the body than the Vitamin A Palmitate. In fact Vitamin A Palmitate in milk reacts with the zinc in milk to form an unabsorbable complex. Vitamin A palmitate does this in any protein containing foods. I recommend that people avoid all protein-containing dairy products which contain vitamin a palmitate. I have a Master's degree in nutrition.
