Low Income foreclosed renters, where is help with moving expenses?

I am a renter and my current landlords place is foreclosed, so now me and my children has to move. My income is low, i get food stamps and medical but no cash assistance. Since I don't qualify for cash assistance the county said that I can not get assistance for shelter. I barely make enough to pay current bills a month in household and now I have to somehow come up with a security deposit on another rental home. Is there any programs to help the tenants that have been forced to move due to foreclosure? Can they help bail us out like they have owners in foreclosures? Where are the programs for single families that are low income that need help? I called all over the state of california and everyone is saying, sorry no funds. This is crazy.

Talk to Catholic Family Services in your area if there uis one. And there usually is. Also contact United Way. If nothing else, they can usually give you a list of resources you can contact to try to find help. But, the whole no funds situation is a very real problem at the moment.

You should check the HUD housing site and look into low income housing which is different from Section 8 housing.  You sign up at individual apartment building and your rent will be based on what you can pay (including whether or not there will be a deposit).  This is the best program that I can find.  Also I would sign for Section 8 help, because those who are going to be homeless or are homeless get helped first.  You may qualify for motel vouchers until   http://www.hud.gov/ .

and click on Renting .  It will list apartments and you have to go to each of the ones you want to and sign up to get in.  There is a brand new one that hardly anyone knows about in Sylmar called Rockwood apartments if your interested.  You can also go to the self help clinics at the courthouses.  They can help or point to someone or a program that can.  They a lot more information than just legal especially for people being evicted due to owner’s foreclosure.  Here is the link to phone numbers and locations. Go early and sign in immediately.  Don’t wait.  It is a first come, first serve service:  http://www.nls-la.org/contact_self.php#self

Good luck!

Since u recieve food stamps and medical u should contact your worker or go into the office take paper work about the foreclosure they should be-able to assist in moving or at least resources

Most firms that are foreclosing know there is an additional cost related to the unlawful detainer action that allows them to get possesion of the property from the current tenant, in this case you.

They have a program called cash for keys that will pay the tenant about $2000 -$2500 to move from the property within a months' time. Try to find out who is the new owner, they usually come and place paperwork at the property a few days after the sale to the new owners. Call the new owners and ask about this option.

Place your children up for adoption, get yourself together, and don't have any more children until you are able to take care of yourself, them AND save for a rainy day like any responsible adult in the great country of ours should.  And STOP looking for a hand out, because what you are given is taken from MY hand and I don't even know you.  BE RESPONSBLE.  THINK LIKE A REPUBLICAN.
