Yesterday (June 24) around 7:45 pm I was going out to my car parked on Ripley Ave in North Redondo and I heard a really loud prolonged noise. It sounded similar to a jet engine and it seemed to be accompanied by a plume of steam or smoke (maybe from the Redondo Power Plant?). I'd never heard anything like that before and I was wondering if anyone else heard it or knows what it was.
