Here's how I lose 10 pounds in one week, and continue to lose weight on a fairly rapid basis:
It starts with a vegetable fast - you eat all the vegetables you need to ward off any starving sensations. Eat them cooked or raw, (both for me), depending on each person's system. Some people need lightly cooked veggies to really digest the food. Drink lots of water, and tea as needed for thirst. I add a little honey and skim milk to my tea, and drink it all day long, I’m not shy about caffeine, or I’ll get a headache and lose spirit. Ice tea will cause your body to lose even more weight, as the body uses calories to warm the tea - this is why survivors in the snow will always try to melt snow before ingesting it.
Eat veggies that your body in not accustomed to having. I don't know why this works, but it does. Look in the veggie section of the store, check out things like Dakion (root) and Jicama (root). After about 4 days of veggies only, start adding whole cooked grains. So…veggies and grains along with Omega 3 oils, I use flax oil, it's expensive, but pure gold to my system. Adding apple cider vinegar to certain veggies, such as brussels and cabbage may help with the fact that gallstones are possible with this kind of diet. But I've been doing this diet for the majority of my life when I need to lose weight, and have never experienced related health problems - I am 55 years old.
Do slow walks, isometrics, whatever, to try and maintain muscle during this diet, as you will lose some lean muscle as part of this diet. Right now I'm doing it because I hurt my back, and losing weight is the purest form of medicine for a bad back, in my humble opinion.
Never eat to the point of being stuffed, and eat slowly, thinking about the food: how it got to you - from seed to store, to cooked, to present. Last night I took 45 minutes to eat (yes the food got cold) - I eat one main meal a day, with snacks between. Slow eating assures that your food is completely chewed; so your body acts differently. Try not to eat anything after 8pm - that's my biggest downfall. If you do need to eat late, eat something that is measured, or something raw.
I strongly believe that we do not need the protein that the RDA says, but Quinoa is an ancient grain, related to Amaranth, and it is loaded with protein, calcium, and other vitamins. Soaking and roasting grains before eating helps with digestion, and makes them taste better. I use garlic and pepper, my salad dressing is flax oil, natural (Picante) salsa (all veggies), water, garlic, pepper and salt, and it's delicious. The only thing I really count in a salad in terms of calories is the oil and avocado if I use one. Adding dakion and fresh chinese sugar peas to a salad makes my day. Suffice it to say that I don’t actually count calories on this diet, as veggies as naturally low – they get zero points on Weight Watchers.
The only nuts I eat during the first few weeks are raw or lightly sautéed almonds. I eat beans, but keep it to the lighter types, such as lima, garbanzos, and black eyed peas.
After losing the first 10 pounds, I begin adding raw fruit, but I only eat fruit alone, and mostly in the morning, ideally first thing and not be combined with other food. The next step is to start adding flour, cooking muffins, etc. but mainly, I live on whole grains and vegetables to maintain weight loss. I do believe in food combining: I try not to eat more than one compound food at a time: for example, if I’m eating lima beans, I would eat them with a salad, or a potato with a salad. You can learn more about compound foods on the Internet, but it’s pretty obvious, breads, meat, beans, nuts, etc. are compound foods. I’ve kept my weight under control for years by paying attention to food combining, so the “meat and potatoes” concept is out the window. I believe that my body does better with simple foods.
Naturally, when I do this diet, and it usually lasts about 4 months, I eat meals separately from my family. My family supports me on this, because they know it works. Eventually I'll drop back into eating like everyone else, and then I need to fast again to go back to square one, because I am an emotional eater sometimes, tending to reward myself with ice cream, especially after finishing a very difficult project, or during grieving about loss.
This diet is great for determining and treating food allergies, because foods are added gradually: if one has a food allergy it will become more easily and immediately apparent, as the system is clear and allergies are not as easily masked. I have several food allergies, and started a related diet 30 years ago due to allergies and acne problems. It cleared my acne for life, and uncovered several food allergies that I was unaware of.
I should add that I do have to eat yogurt due to my particular health needs - it's the only dairy besides the skim milk with tea, but I add oat bran to it, to taper the sweetness and make it a high fiber food. You might be surprised to find that wheat is a problem…
Remember, don't eat until you're stuffed, or your stomach will stretch, and you'll get hungry easier. The smaller your stomach, the less food you'll need to feel satisfied. I don't buy into all the warnings about losing weight too fast: people who get their stomachs stapled eat very little food, and lose weight rapidly, so it's done all the time.
This diet works!!! Good luck.
