Looped Crochet Bear

I made a crochet bear in the 90's, and gave it as a gift. I cannot find the pattern. Unusual stitch was made with loops and the use of your thumb while single crocheting. It was was an article I found years ago in a magazine. Does anybody know how to do this stitch?   Thanks, Country Lady
