Does melanin have something to do with lighter palms and soles of feet in African-Americans?
Home improvement projects, "Get'er done."
Lido knows what he's talking about. The palms and soles of the feet have fewer melanocyte cells that are responsible for the production of melanin. That’s why those parts of the body have lighter pigment. This is the same no matter what race you are.
No. the palms and soles of people with darker skin only look lighter: in contrast.
I think I must disagree. Perhaps a Dr or a biologist will back me up that no one has melanin in their palms or bottom of the feet.
Responders informed me that it's the absence of melatin that results in the lighter-colored appearance of the soles and palms, which is true regardless of race. I still, however, fail to see how that could apply to caucasians.
