To your question.. Is it really that hard to see what is real ? Actually... It is IMPOSSIBLE for the DUALISTIC mind to RECOGNIZE the Ultimate Reality and enter there by THINKING alone. First something MUST happen .. and that is.. the subjective and limited mind of man MUST Awaken. It MUST expand and REALIZE it is currently stuck in this matrix called LIFE.

Sounds unlikely? Of course it does.. it MUST, since our own dualistic egocentric minds are actually PROGRAMMED to keep us IN the Dream.
The basic premise for the movie Matrix is so close to the truth that it is quite humorous. Eventually we DO wake up.. but not until that SHIFT in awareness takes place which literally REVEALS to us our own HIGHEST Reality. Ultimately we GET that there is no ME VS That which is Not Me. There is ONLY INFINITE, Perfect Consciousness which we all are ... having experiences via the finite mind, which is itself a vertual reality machine that continually.. through the power of THOUGHT.. creates every experience you EVER had. There is nothing "OUT THERE"... it all takes place.. within .. the non physical / non local MIND.
So back to ... This mystical "Virgin condition" which Jacob Boehm references has nothing to do with the physical mundane world.. Instead it eludes to that Perfect, unchanging Supreme State of Pure Consciousness. Here there is no experience of Duality, No, play of Good VS Evil... no judgment. One who can HOLD this extremely rare perspective of Absolute BE~ing ... would be said to have a VIRGIN Mind.. one fully AWAKENED, fully REALIZED to their TRUE SELF... free and unrestricted by the finite mind's creative dream. The instant the veil of ignorance is lifted OFF the mind .. allowing one's awareness of SELF to expand ... the Ultimate Awakening ... we get to see beyond this dream of imperfection and suffering and finally re-cognize the utter perfection that was always "Here". Our True SELF, the One constant reality which is the essence and support of all other limited and changing realities. To KNOW thy Self is no small thing, in fact it is WHY we are here.
This is actually what those extremely rare BEings such as Jesus, Krishna, Jnaneshwar, The Buddha etc.. came to do. NOT to deliver our individual souls to some "Heaven" since that is just another form of Duality... created and sustained via the virtual reality machine called MIND.. but to TOTALLY Awaken us to our Ultimate and Perfect State of Pure BE~ing. &
It is not that we BECOME this Perfect ONE.. we already ARE the ONE and have always been THAT ... we have just forgotten our true SELF. In this highest state there is NO Sin.. we just dreamed these amazing dreams and then made the 'mistake' of JUDGING them and identifying with them. That's what the impure ego does.
Bottom line here is Unconditioal Love. Unconditional Love is not only the Supreme Reality... It is the defaul mode of EVERY human being. Whatever we THINK Unconditional Love is MUST fall short of ITs actual reality since the veiled mind is not capable of perceiving this Ultimate or Virgin State if you will.. untainted by duality, judgment, or.. THINKING. : )
For the mind it is the mystery of mysteries.. but we have the KEY.. right within us.
