Letter From Their Father

I think it is a wonderful thing that he communicates this to his young daughters. They will have this letter to look back on when they are older, to help them understand what their father was trying to accomplish in his life for their good and the good of all. I think every parent should write letters to their children, so the aduld child may know who they are and what they stand for.

If this letter is truly from Obama to his daughters, why is it published? It seems more like a public relations stunt instead of a loving letter.

I agree that it sounds like a PR stunt.  Otherwise, keep it private.

If this letter is truly from the President elect to his daughters, it should have been kept private. It appears as a PR moment. Not a good move on his part, or that of his people. He doesn't need to do this type of stunt.

It is a beautiful letter to his daughers with great sentiment. The only thing I think it should have been a private letter. it seems like their lives are already and open book and will continue to be during his term of office.

This should have remained private to make this a true from the heart from the father.

Outstanding just like the author. It gave me goosebumps.

if he really wanted to make THEIR lives better, why didn't he give them more time now when they are small.  he can always rid the world of evil when they are older (as if he can really change the world).

And why make it public?

President Elect Obama is a public official and his daughter's are also in the public eye.  I don't think that it is a PR stunt or anything of the sort but I do feel is that he gave the American people what they would have found out about later.  Then the letter would have been in "headlines" and everyone would have been really interested.  President Elect Obama's life is an open book as well as his family and sharing this letter with us is not a bad thing.  Thankfully some of us had Father's that loved us enough to write a letter and for the other's let this be a lesson.

To add another comment....... since the election and event's leading up to the election; I have never in my life seen and heard so much racism.  I've always been pround to be a American but the behavior that I've seen recently is embarassing.
