Legal but not ethical ??

Is it legal for an elected official to run for the same seat they already posses? Even if to reposition or extend their term? It may be legal, but I feel it is highly unethical!!

I don't think it's unethical to do so, as long as they have done well with the previous term and if they have performed what he was supposed to do for that particular position.

Anyway, the people he served will be the judge, they either elect him again or not depending on his job performance.

I fail to understand the question. I do not see what could be unethical about anyone running for any political seat they are legally entitle and qualified, particularly if they already hold the seat. I can imagine it to be unethical or dishonest if the candidate has publicly stated a personal belief in term limits, has made a promise, and now changed his mind. Or, and this has happened, if a plea agreement has been reached in which a person avoids prosecution in exchange for information, and a promise not to seek public office again, and then does so, that is unethical, AND dishonest.

i think that a politician is a politician and will do what he can to continue to be.  there are two spots available in the next ontario election.  the two incumbents are running obviously but another councilman who's term is not up for another two years is wanting to run now.  two reasons; one to extend his term but also to push out one of the other two incumbents.  this type of politcing divides councils and can be detrimental to the overall health of a council.  lets say the third politician doesn't win and all three are back, what kind of relationship can they all have when they have to work with one that tried to push them out.  its politicing and its not good for the city, just for the politician.

The time for the politician has come to an end.   time for the people's representative to be elected.  Rancho Cucamonga is the best example of this.  our city is over developed because of the city council votes.  NO MORE!  Vote thise guys out of office!
