Hi

nice to hear back from you. Actually yu should not get so worried when it is not even clear that there is actually a problem at hand or not.

Now coming back to your questions-

Yes operator error is known to occur, though I will not be able to quote any figures off hand. As I explained earlier that some times the axis of the kidney may be slightly different and it may appear foreshortened.  However these errors are not routine and I am sure that when a doctor informs the patient about a finding he or she usually makes things clear in his or her mind. The only thing in yur case is that the size was not measured.

Regarding yur second question it is a well known fact that humans have two kidneys and it is possible to have perfectly normal life span with one kidney. Now in your case they only said that left kidney appears some what smaller in size, so I can safely presume that it is structually normal. So let us take the scenario that it is actually a few cms smaller but structurally normal then it is functioning like any other normal kidney and one may not even notice any thing abnormal during the life span of the person.

What I wrote above is all on the presumtions and I am sure that in the next scan it will be absolutely clear and god willing it will all be normal. Do inform us about the outcome and till then yu should stop worrying and take care of the other important aspects of the pregnancy.

regards
