I don't think so, my CD-ROM has a problem opening and closing so leave a single CD in it (with my favorite game) almost all the time, I take it out only when I really have to and it's been there for about two years. The CD still works well.
Mind you, it's not a burned CD, it's original, and I think they are more reliable.
