Laser hair removal

Laser hair removal -- is it permanent or not? I tried to read about this a bit and didn't quite understand what's going on.

Let me start off by saying I've never actually experienced laser hair removal myself.

However, I have a friend who did it, and another one who just checked out a few places and methods. It is my understanding that its never permanent. Basically after 10-12 times you notice a big difference in the density and texure of your hair, but you need about 20 treatments which take about a year all together to have all the hair removed from a certain area.

As the hair growth depends on physicality and hormons, you can remove it all at a certain age, and then at an older age - your hormons change and you can grow back the hair. If you're looking for numbers its 80% success. (thats what I've read).

 Good luck! :)

Well that depends on which type of hair color you have. For example, a friend of mine tried to remove his body hair by using laser, and he has red pegments in his hair color.. after a while it turned out that the hair color was too bright to be completely removed.. There was a huge improvement though..

Cool, thanks lior_p.

But did they say if the hair will grow back? Or when?

It is laser reduction and not removal. I got it done 5 few years ago and it has not grown back. I got there are least once a year for a touch up to target somehing like 10 hairs that have grown back. Results vary based on skin color, hair type, hormornal issues etc. But I say it works and I had about 8 sessions very 6-8 weeks- then i just got every year for a touch up.

The new GHD IV are great for thick hair, I bought some recently. GHD have got 3 widths. My personal preference is the medium sized plates (the styler) but your wife may have a preference for wider plates. Everyone is different with their choice. The medium plates are better though because they go closer to the root & can be used for curling & other stuff. Is it at all possible for you to find out if she has a particular preferance for wider plates? Maybe from a sister or girlfriend of hers? If not, just buy a pair then exchange them if she prefers a different size. Good choice of pressie! Source(s): Http://www.GHD-retail.com

Laser hair removal is a hair removing process and does not guarantee that the hair is removed permanently.  The process involves heating the hair follicle, trying to damage each follicle so that it will no longer produce the hair.   Many say that the thicker and darker the hair, the more heat it takes, and the more permanent the effect. However, with those lighter, thinner hairs, it can take many more treatments to get the same effect.

yeah, it requires multiple treatments for laser hair removal

if you have the time and money to continue to pad their pockets then I'd do it otherwise, shaving and taking hormonal supplements (on medical advice) could yield great benefits.
