Which is the largest desert in the world, the Sahara or the Gobi deserts?
Love is the battery of life....
Hi,
yeah, you're right. I should have looked before asking. Anyway, I guess the Sahara is bigger.
Thanks
Here is a map of the Gobi desert:
Oron in right in locating the deserts in different continents. The Sahara desert is indeed in Africa, while the Gobi Desert is in Asia.
If, however, you're still interested in the two desert' area, then you can determine without hesitation that the Sahara desert is much larger. The Sahara's area is about 9,000,000 square kilometres (approximately 3,500,000 square miles), while the Gobi's area is 'just' about 1,295,000 square kilometers (approximately 500,000 square miles). That is, the Sahara is about 7 times larger in area than the Gobi.
The Sahara is the largest desert in the world, so yes, bigger than the Gobi which is found in Asia.
