Large number of queries regarding sex

The large number of queries regarding protected and unprotected sex and questions of pregnancy seems to reflect ignorance of these subjects by many people especially young women. I think it indicates that there is a great need for sex education but the question is by whom? If parents are apparently too shy to tackle it who should and how should it be funded?

You bring up a very good point. Parents are often too shy to talk to their children about sex and there is a clear need for sex education in this country. I think that going as far as raising government funding is necessary at this point to educate both parent and child. I also think that there need to be more funds that go into the requirement of sex education in all public schools. If the government would use the media as an agent to better educate the public that would be great as well. I have seen safe sex ads on MTV and some other popularly watched cable channels. I think that it is difficult because many people do not want to expose children to sex education at too young of an age. The truth is that sex is everywhere; on t.v, in magazines, in movies etc. It is extremely difficult to avoid so why not educate young people early on?

I am very encouraged by the number of serious and intelligent responses to my original posting. I found the following site at the MSN home page which should alleviate fears that sex education just encourages young people  to go for it. This makes for interesting reading:

Hi Brosen,

I have seen some of your other posts they are often insightful...and this is a good question..

Perhaps someone(maybe not the government) should set up a free website and advertise it as much as possible at / around schools etc. This way kids can get the best information possible..through one source...instead of tackling issues as they arrive and getting the info from possible perverts online...who may not even know what they are talking about anyway..!
