My question regards my laptop. I own a lenovo R60 and a docking station. At times, when connecting the computer to the station (Computer is on). it will immediately shutoff. What happens, Is this preventable?
on your dock, there should be small little metal tips that press down when you put in your laptop. these should have rubber insulators on top of them, if they don't, they're shorting out through your laptop, turning it off. This isn't good for your laptop, so try cover them with a little piece of scrap rubber and try put your laptop on the dock and see if this fixes it for you.
Try to check if the power button of the docking station is stuck inside. otherwise, you might have an electrical problem in your computer or in the docking station. I advise you not to touch it and not to fix it either. it's and old computer and I bet you don't have guaranty. about fixing, it will be to expensive.
Actually, It's pretty new, I own it for about 6 month. The problem is pretty rare, so I can't be bothered to use my guarantee for now. Just thought someone might have experienced it too.
