Laptop or desktop?

I am looking to buy a new computer for my house. I was wondering if I should get a laptop or a regular computer..? I feel like with laptop I have more mobility and I can carry it around and do a lot more with it. but with the PC I can get for the same price I pay for the laptop, much better qualities. What should I do?

The truth is that today you can get all the capabilities of a power desktop PC in a laptop, you'll still see laptops of the same capabilities about 400-500 more expansive than the comparable desktop and you probably will need to spend more for an external monitor and a docking station.

Alltogether it's a question of costs and needs. a few things to consider:

- Are there any other people that need to use the computer - a desktop, setup and ready to use in you home office is going to be much more simpler

- Do you travel a lot? that's a clear plus for the laptop

- Are you an advanced gamer? hi-end graphics cards, sound systems etc, will cost you more on a laptop. for desktops there are many options in variuos price ranges for these accessories.

- Who will use it ? kids? adults? student?   - for kids and elderly I'd go for a desktop, students would probably make a good use of a laptop.

Hope it helps.

a few more points;

laptop, if it is used for long period of time has 2-4 drawbacks;

1) small or uncomfortable keyboard

2) small or uncomfortable mouse

3) small screen (although 2day u have laptop with 15 and 17 inch LCD monitors.

4) small and lousy speakrs

for first 2 problem, u can easiely and cheaply buy a normal keyboard and mouse and plug them in when ur at home. screen might b a bit more pricer. on the road ull probably use headphones, and u can always plug in a normal pair.

another drawback which u might encouter is lack of HD space. but u can always burn the data on discs and DVDs or buy an external HD.

if u manage to answer all the questions Avichay mentioned, ull b able to quite easily decide what 2 buy.
