Laptop ac cord not making connection into the laptop to charge it.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. My most recent problem is getting ac power. I have purchased new cords. Problem still exists. When I plug the ac cord into the laptop it does not make a connection to supply power. It flickers on and off to completely off; at which time the battery takes over.

When this problem first started, I would simply hold the cord tight, start jiggling it, and push it into the laptop as hard as I could to get power. The power would come on and I could function again. It wasn't long before I started to have to just HOLD IT THERE. :( That makes it difficult to type.  Yes, I did just use the battery I had; BUT, once the battery was drained I couldn't sit there and hold the ac cord into the laptop until it charged fully.

Can ANYONE help me with this problem?

Gratefully,

Kimberly

Life is a one lap race. Make many pitstops.

Hey Kim, Your problem is inside your laptop, not your cord. The connections are soldered onto the circuit board inside your computer. It probably just needs to be resoldered, which most repairmen can do. You may even be able to do it yourself. You have to take your laptop apart to get to the problem. Once apart, it is an easy fix. Maybe you have a friend that is handy in this area of repairs. Good luck.
