Kittens with upper respiratory infection

I have a mother cat and 8 kittens that were born 10/22/09, mother and father were both strays that my husband brought home recently and the male has a upper respiratory infection and I think the kittens do also.  What is the best treatment for them since they are under 3 weeks old?  Are they more likely to die from this since they are so young?

Libmil,  Pack up all the kitties and take a ride to the vet.  Sooner, not later, please.

If you can get them to a vet or cat organization.  The other kittens could catch it .  They could all die. Ask your vet if he knows any organizations to help you.  At that age  they are really at risk.  Good luck and keep us posted.

The best thing you can do is take them to the vet. They can prescribe antibotics for the adults and they can give you an exact dosage for the babies. Although they are just kittens they can have antibotics but the vet only the vet will know the exact dosage. Good luck.

A lot of people can't afford $75 per cat to take to a vet- they will most likely die BUT I have had this numerous times.  Get human antibiotics like Novo-Ampicillin, any kind will help -it will not CURE but will get them strong enough to fight a virus.  Open capsules and mix with 1Tablespoon milk and 1T water, I use 2 capsules and eyedropper or seringe to give it to them.  Give them 2 doses per day ever OTHER day 3 times.  Give to the mother also.
