It's not considered as a sin by any of the three major monotheistic religions. On the other hand hinduism for example restrict consumption of meat by prohibiting eating beef. Other than that it's a matter of personal judgment- some see cows and chicken as animals meant for eating, while others believe there's nothing like "meant for eating" and become vegetarians.

Killing and eating your own food is a way of interacting with nature on a truly fundamental level; it is something we have been doing as long as we have been human (or longer actually). It can be a meaningful and indeed spiritual experience if you treat it as such. It can teach a person a lot about big issues like life and death and having respect for the environment.

I don't take great pleasure in killing anything but I think that eating meat is part of the circle of life. Should the lion feel bad that he eats the buffalo (or whatever they have down there in the African savana)?. One may say that we as humans have an obligation to be moral towards other living beings, a moral level other animals aren't capable of. I disagree.

I think that we are connected with the other dwellers of our planet in a certain harmony that presents itself in the natural ecological system we are all a part of. Eating other animals isn't betraying that system, it's taking a part in it.

Hope i didn't offend anyone. Cheers.

I think a simple look at our teeth structure you can find fangs, these indicate that we are probably meat eaters.  Religion has it's own prospective on life  and like mentioned before  it has to do with morality.
