Kiefer Sutherland DUI

Kiefer Sutherland was sentenced to 48 days in jail for DUI, but the judge agreed to let him serve 18 days in December-January and then 30 more days in the summer. How unusual is this decision? Do judges tend to be as considerate of people who are not as famous?

Live each day as if it's your last.

Judges are always letting famous people get away with things like this. As much as I'd like to believe Sutherland is looking out for Fox's best interests and his co-workers, I don't think this is the case. Think about it, if he waits until December, he will only do 18 days in jail, but like most regular people, if he started his time immediately, he'd be required to do all 48 days for his DUI. It's not right and it sets a bad precedent, but that's the way it is.

It's not the mountain we conquer... but ourselves

I think it's becoming pretty well-known that judges let celebrities get away with just about everything other than murder.  Sometimes it's because the judges just like that person, sometimes it's because the judges assume that their mis-actions are a result of the stressful life they lead, sometimes the right people are paid off to get the celebrity a more lenient sentence.   Really though, whatever the reason is, it's ridiculous, unethical, and unfair.
