Nothing beats the parents as the mentor of their own children.. teach them how important the nature was in our world and tell him/her the side effects if the nature were destroyed..  or you can let them seen some

TV Shows that will surely educated them like National Geographic Channel and Discovery..

Children are God's gift to the world...

Be a role model. Teach your children to love the environment by actively loving the environment yourself. I love to watch animal planet and national geographic as they have some great informative programs that teach me a thing or two about going green in a better way. Encourage your kids to do the little things, like recycle plastic and glass bottles and paper. Teach them not to let the water run when they are brushing their teeth and not actually rinsing their toothbrush. Educate them to turn off electricity in rooms that they're not in. Little things like that can make a huge difference. Hope this helps.

I think you simply need to set an example. Recycle, Don't litter and make sure they see where you contribute to the environment. Taking them on nature walks and showing them the beautiful world we live in will also create a strong bond between them and their surroundings.

The best way for this is if your kid joins a club or organization that spends a lot of time in nature. My nephew has been a member of a mountain climbers club since he was five. The main rule of mountain climbers is to keep nature. Besides, he learnt how to really LOVE nature, not to pick up every flower he sees and to take care about the green areas in our town. He also learnt what things are recycled when you throw them in nature and what are not. Anyway, you should try to make the kid be A PART of nature.
