We just always had a balanced meal in my family and nothing was ever fried. There was always a vegetable and a protein and a carbohydrate, and that's just the way it was. The highlight though was as long as we ate our healthy meal, we were able to have whatever dessert we wanted. Just as long as it was not excessive or 'out of bounds'!

My kids love chili. This site has some great recipes

http://www.chili-everyway.com/

They also have a great section on how to use chili to get kids to eat more veggies

I hope this helps

If the Pen is Mightier than the Sword.... How Lethal is an E-Mail ?

Maybe mix it with something they like (maybe something unhealthy), but dont sit them side by side on the plate( Incorporate them in a mixture).

You could even start with stir-Fry Veg !! Use some nice tasty sauces when serving them up. Like a Tomato/Napolitana type sauce (Dont forget to add sugar to counteract the acidity of the Tomato and the kids will love it). Use fresh herbs.

Or you could try Rattatouille. Look at some vegetarian recipes but serve them up as your side veg. its a quicker way of getting your kids to eat the veg. if youre going to serve up the veg as it is, then dont forget to put salt in the water before you boil your veg.  Hope it helps. :-) Good luck.

Rabid about life

It depends on the age of your children and what you consider healthy food. Some things like a salad can go from healthy to almost junk food depending on how it is made. Just by cutting back on sugars and fats in your cooking is a good start in a healthier diet. Cut back on carbohydrates where you can and increase fiber. Don't make drastic changes, a little at a time will eventually have your children eating healthier.

Many times there is a dietician for the county or region that you can get more information from.
