I think it depends on the age of the kids.  If the kids are old enough to appreciate the clothes, it's a nice and fun present to get.  On the other hand though, the parents will buy their kids clothes no matter what.  I always loved when my grandparents asked me what I wanted or got me the new and happening toy of the time... parents aren't always ready to go out and buy their kids every little thing that becomes popular among kids... but grandparents are good at spoiling their grandchildren, and I always loved it.
