June 21, 2009 - The Rapture

Seeking opinions concerning June 21, 2009 being the Day of Rapture, as described in the Bible.  This is predicated on the fact that December 21, 2012 will mark the Middle (or end of the first half) of the Tribulation.  Thanks.

Bull. Reality is, it will usually hurt like hell and leave you with a permanent limp.

"This is predicated on the fact that December 21, 2012 will mark the Middle (or end of the first half) of the Tribulation." ----- Now, exactly HOW is this a "fact" ?

Thank you, Tyrebitre, for bringing up an important point I failed to include in my question.  I did not mean to say that the theories regarding 12/21/12 or 06/21/09 are FACT.  There are many people from all ages, religions, geography and scientific arenas, that have a belief/prophesy about 12/21/12 similar to that of the Mayans.  With world conditions as they are now, and other evidences, I believe that it is POSSIBLE that this date may be correct.

I suppose I should have begun my question with "concerning the oft-mentioned but unprovable date of June 21, 2009...". You are right; I'm sorry; I did not mean to assume such possibility as fact, and thank you bringing this to my attention.

If you could add an opinion of this theory, I'd appreciate it.  Thanks.

OK.  I'll go along now -   Yes, many do theorize that the world will end on a specific date.  The Jehovah's Witnesses have given a firm date for the end of the world at least 3 times ( and I think more like 5 times ) , all of which have come and gone and the world kept on keeping on.  The future cannot be predicted since the future doesn't exist - I don't buy into the common concept of "time";  there is no past except memory and no future beyond prediction - there is only "now".   What is going to happen as we progress through the "now" can be guessed at, but as for a firm prediction - impossible ( unless , for example, we can "see" our end approaching as in a giant asteroid ).  End of times rantings such as those supposedly found in the Mayan calendar or the Revelation of St John are just that: rantings.

Thank you for your additional comments, Tyrebitre.  I realize many denominations and "independents" have predicted when Christ will return, and they were all wrong. I may be wrong; in fact, I'm not sure of June 21, 2009 as the date of the Rapture.  I'm just saying that with many diverse prophets, teachers, astrologers and seers having all picked December 21, 2012 as a date that, to exaggerate, could be a day like no other this world has ever seen or the Day of Destruction, etc.  I'm merely pointing out that too many people from extreme parts of the world and eras of time have given the exact same date as a time when there will be some sort of cataclismic "happening."

There is nothing "supposed" about the Mayan calendar, and neither that nor the Revelations of St. John are "rantings."  If you really believe this to be true, then I pray for you, because, even though June 21, 09 or Dec. 21, 12 may not turn out to be the dates referenced in these contexts, these dates will be accomplished at some future time.  Therefore, watch and be ready, take notice of God's signs, and believe the Truth before it's too late.

The answer that follows is based on the readings as per the Christian Bible. 'No Man knowes the date of the rapture, except for God, not even the "Son of God", who is God in the Flesh. So, if you are a Christian, then surely you believe in God's Word. Can we predict the future, no, but we have been told what will happen in the future to recognize it. No other faith, has been able to give a description of the future events with accuracy by today's standards and hold up under scrutiny. Read from the Old Testament prophecy books and the New Testament Revelation. Then ask the serious questions based on what you have read. Have past events been full filed as per the Bible. If your answer is yes, then you are on track for the future. If no, then put the same questions against other teachings and decide for your self, which one is true full.

Hi KNOW.  Just following up:  I think we can pretty well cross off June 21, 2009,  as the date of the rapture:  however, it was the date on which my youngest daughter ascended into heaven - she hopped on a jet and went to Hawaii then.  Maybe I can remember to get back to you in 3 years and 6 months.  Take care.

Hi, Tyre, Thanks for writing. Yes, it didn't happen on June 21. I have to say I am happy it didn't. There are too many members of my family I'm still worried about. I've talked to them and they say the right things -- yet... The real reason I asked this question was to hopefully warn people that the Rapture "could" be just around the corner, and if one isn't looking forward to that day, some amazing events will truly startle and amaze. Yes, maybe we'll talk again as 12/21/12 nears. Again, thanks.
