Jumpstarting a 2003 Harley sportster

How do I Jump start a 2003 sportster XL883C and where is the chasis ground for the neg cable?

The idea with jumpstarting any HD is to charge the battery first and then start normally.  Ay battery charger with a 3-amp "trickle charge" feature will work brilliantly. 

If you hook in a car battery with the same polarity as your scooter battery, you will have the same voltage but 12.5 times as much current.  That can fry your voltage regulator, starter/alternator (deep in the cases) and much more. 

Easy does it, and if necessary, replace the battery.

No problem.  I try to change batteries every three years, tires at 3/32 tread above the wear bars, oil at 2,000 miles, and check the brakes every time I service my scooter.  If I see anything safety-related that is marginal, I replace it.

Hopefully, those robust Harley innards will withstand most abuse but some things just will not survive.
