Does anyone know the host name and user name for the outgoing and incoming mail servers for john jay college. I guess it would be either pop or imap?
Based on http://johnjay.jjay.cuny.edu/doit/faq2.asp#email21, it sounds like you might be stuck with just using the webmail rather than native email client. You probably want to ping the help desk directly, though to confirm (helpdesk@jjay.cuny.edu)

Can I use a third party email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Netscape? Only within the campus. For security reasons, we do not allow users to set up email clients outside of our local network.
