As painting can't done through the internet, or any other remote device, I suggest that you start post ads at your neighborhood, maybe some of your neighbors are in need for a paint job to be done in the their home.

Check your local want ad section of your news paper. You may also want to run your ads in the paper or post a notice on the community board at your local grocery store.

Good luck.

If you want to be paid to paint a room or two, you should definitely give craigslist a shot. On top of craigslist, most communities have some sort of web community where you can make postings similar to craiglist.

I would also suggest placing ads for really good deals in the newspaper.  If you do a few deals for an extremely good price, people will pass your name along and probably get you a lot of jobs based on referals.  I actually recently used a painter my grandma had found in the local newspaper and passed it on to me.  I spoke with the owner, and he said hes been supplying the service for about two years now and already has 11 men hired to paint for him!
