A:

Jesus Christ the Lord is exactly that, the Lord.  He is the Lord of everything.  He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.  He is everything to me.  He created the earth and the universe, came to earth as a final sacrifice for our sins, died on the cross, rose on the third day and ascended to heaven.  He is there right now, sitting at the right hand of God, the father, interceding for you and me.  When I accepted His forgiveness and decided to follow Him, he became my Savior.  When I received the fullness of the Holy Spirit, He became my Lord and Master as well as my Savior.  All I do, I do for Him.  As far as how He helps people that are baptized, it depends on the spiritual condition of the person that is baptized.  If you are a sinner, unrepentant, when you are baptized, you will come up a sinner.  If you have asked Jesus to forgive you and are willing to live for Him, the act of baptizm is your public statement of this act.  It is also a commandment of Christ.  He said we must be born again and baptized, therefore, we need to do both.  The thing that empowers us is the Holy Spirit.  Jesus said, before he ascended to Heaven, (I'm paraphrazing) After the Holy Spirit comes on you, you shall have power to witness.  No longer are you hesitant to speak of His love for us and your love for Him.  Ask Him and He will forgive and empower you.
