Does J. J. Abrams have relatives in Israel?

A few years ago I was in NYC with an Israeli friend and we met his cousin in a bar. The cousin was in the film business and he looks pretty much like the picture of J. J. Abrams I just saw, and Wikipedia says he is Jewish, but I'm not sure if it's him. My friend is not answering his phone.
