Was Israel's reaction to weeks of missile attacks justified??

What country would allow itself to be bombarded by missiles without responding? Hamas has been launching missiles into Israel without reprisals from Israelis for years now. While I find it very tragic that civilians have been killed, Hamas, like Hezbollah before it, places its offensive weapons in areas where civilians live and work. Is it not therefore Hamas that is putting it's own people in danger? What would Americans do if one of its cities were attacked? What would Europe do if one of its cities were attacked NOT for months, like in this situation, but even in ONE day? Israel left Gaza and instead of taking advantage of their independence and building up their economy, Hamas chose to invest in constant attacks on Israel. Why should Israel be blamed for this?

Life is a never ending revelation. The fall once in a while is just tantamount to giving yourself a break...

Hi. I do believe that Israel as a country in order to protect itself (with it's innocent citizens) has the very right to play the offensive side. Israel was caught unaware putting it's complete trust on the cease-fire agreement when Hamas out of it's own will without any consideration fired rockets to Israel. And now Hamas wants to make it appear to the world that Israel is the oppressor? That's ridiculous. It is very clear that they initiated the bombings. Being in the offensive side, no matter how Israel desire to have no casualties,it has become inevitable. UN should take in mind the policy of fair play because Israel is just playing fair.

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

You both explain it very well. After so many years of Hamas and other factions firing missiles into Israel, and specifically civilian targets, Israel had to do something. You name one country in the world that would allow this to drag on for so long without taking any action. There are few people in Israel that want this to last for a long period of time. What needs to happen is a two state solution, Israel and a Palestinian state. I am not looking to get married with a Palestinian state; I just want a peaceful coexistence. In order for his to happen, it takes an effort on both sides. As it stands right now Hamas is not even willing to recognize the right of Israel's existence. Until this will change, the situation in Gaza will not change and innocent people will suffer the most.

Hamas is responsible. Israel is justified. We need to understand, that the media is only allowing people to feel sympathy for the people of Gaza. In the event not many Arab countries (GCC) support Hamas. What is ironic is that The Republic of Iran supports Hamas. Hamas is Sunni. Iran is Shia. Sunni claim Shia's are idolatrous.

When we did offer the two state solution, it was the Palestinians who did not approve and the majority of Arab Countries, back in 1948.

How long will The State of Israel, sit back and do nothing. The Hamas wanted this fight. Now they have it. It will get worse for the people of Gaza. I am aware Israel is on alert.

Its not about WAR, and who wins. Its all about making life miserable for the other side and Israel is doing that.

I want peace in the middle east. But with peace, reconciliation must follow.

Sounds like a question born of the guilt of a Zionist terrorist campaign against the United Nations British Mandate of Palestine that disenfranchised the indigenous Arab population out of the 52% of the overall land that was promised to them, along with the right to self determination and self rule.

Sounds like a question born of the guilt of an Israeli nation that illegally occupies huge swaths of Palestine as evidenced by scores of violated U.N. Mandates, Condemnations, Censures, and Orders.

Sounds to me like the lands being subjected to these so called deadly Arab rocket attacks were stolen from them and don’t even belong to Israel.

Sounds to me like your guilt over this is evidenced in your question.

You have got to be kidding. You know darn well Hamas offered to call a permanent cease fire and recognize Israel if Israel withdrew to it's pre 1967 borders. All of which territory is being occupied illegally by Israel according to scores of U.N. Condemnations, Orders, Censures and Mandates.

Gaza is home to 1.3 million Arabs and is barely twice the size of Washington D.C.

It is a veritible prison, where Arabs are starved, denied due process and every attempt to self govern is stamped out by Israel through armed acts of agression that kill scores of innocent women and children.

Israel is a pariah rogue nation that needs to be disolved if it can't abide by the 4th Geneva Convention and U.N. Resolutions and Mandates that allowed Jewish imigration to Palestine in the first place.

A huge political push in the United States is going to be made to divorce our unwarranted and unfounded biased support and funding of Israel.

America has had enough of your human rights violations, dishonoring treaties, NAZI Like tactics, extorsion, threats, bribery and intimitation in our government and the warped distorted views you portray through the media outlets Zionists own in America.

Keep trying to spin your story and keep killing innocent women and children and defying the United Nations world body and see where it gets you.

G-d only promised the lands to the Jews if they abided by his laws. Your not, give it up, withdraw from the illegally occupied portions of Palestine, compensate Arabs for the land illegally confiscated, and stop lying to the American People.

Never, I repeat never has Hamas recognized Israel's right to exist. No need to continue with this discussion.
