I'm interested in:

Israel - "church and state" "synagogue and state" "religion and state"

Is there a way to receive news/articles/blog posts from online sources on just the subject of "church and state" (or I guess "synagogue and state"/"religion and state") in Israel?

I've tried all kinds of rss feeds - but these aggregates are way too broad. I've also tried subscribing to lots of non-profits newsletters, but they are usually too narrow in scope.

Is there some feed out there that I don't know of that someone could help me with.

thanks.

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

I am extremely interested in the area you are inquiring about. As you point out, there are so many publications about this topic; you can spend hours sifting through all of the information until you find what you really need.  If you could possibly be more specific as to exactly what you are looking for, I will be more then happy in helping you find what you are looking for.

Israel - "church and state" (or "synagogue and state"/"religion and state")

As an American Jew, I feel that the issues of religion and state in Israel are so crucial -- they go to what it means to be a "Jewish state".

I am considering making aliyah (immigrating) to Israel and want to be well-informed on these issues - especially those involving conversion, the Law of Return and marriage in Israel.

Hope you - or anyone else out there - can help me out.

thanks.

Before I give you my answer, I would like to say that you are approaching the issue of aliyah in a very smart manner. I made aliyah 25 years ago from the US, and I am still here. I do not want to influence your decisions, and today with the Internet, I feel you have a huge advantage about making your decision (and it is a major decision), about coming to Israel then I did. The newspapers and current event web sites in Israel are much more politically and religiously (or non religiously) oriented then they are in the US. By reading the various web sites of these papers, you can get a good feel of how the various sides of what ever argument (discussion) is hot at the moment. Because the issues of a Jewish state are fluid, you need to keep up to date with what is going on. I will give you a few starting points, and keep this in mind: it is healthy to have a good discussion. Best of luck with your decision, and the order of my links are alphabetical only.

thanks for trying to help.

I am aware of all the links you mentioned.

After doing some more research, seems as if there is no tech way to sift through all the news to reveal ONLY church & state subjects.

Anyone know of a blog that handles this? or non-profit organization newsletter?

thanks.

I think that the place to start would be the Religion and State in Israel blog, edited by Joel Katz.  (The blog is not affiliated with any organization or movement.)

On a weekly basis, Joel publishes a comprehensive digest of articles relating to issues around religion and state in Israel, culled from all the major Israeli (and other Jewish) online publication.
The digest is available via both e-mail subscription or as an Atom (RSS) Feed.  The website URL is as follows:

I have blogged about the valuable service that Joel provides on a few occasions:
