I was reading in Deut. chapter 8, verse 9 :...a land in which you will eat bread without scarcity, in which you will lack nothing; a land whose stones are iron and out of whose hills you can dig copper." - What can you tell me about iron/coper mines in present day Israel?
To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.
Copper mining began more than 6,000 years ago in Timna, 25 kilometers north of Eilat. For more information see these 2 web sites. There are plans to mine copper in the near future again.

That's an answer to part of the question, but what about "...whose stines are iron..."? Are there plans to revive iron mining, smelting???
I am not aware of any plans, but if I hear of something I will let you know.
