Friendships are for eternity

Interviewed by a committee

I will be interviewed by a three or four person committee for an executive position at a trade organization. Each of them represent a different member company. This will be my third job in this type of organizations, but in the previous ones I have been only interviewed by the President, who made the decision and then went on to get support from the board of directors.

So I would like to ask for advice on the following:

1. How to prepare for the interview.

2. What would you do different from a normal one-on-one interview.

79 thumbs up

Panel interviews are really uncomfortable. I would say it is very important to recognize the people in the panel and their roles. The head will be pretty easy to recognize since he will make the introductions. Try to find out the person you will be working with and try to give him a lot of eye contact. When you are talking to the panel remember you are talking to all of them and not just to the  one who posed the question. In the group f three there will probably be a person more dominant which the rest agree with him try to impress that person.
