Internet Security

What are the key issues that individuals and small businesses are concerned about when it comes to computer and internet security? A business partner and myself launched a small web site... http://Confidential-Transactions.com ... because it seemed that there wasn't a resource available to just cover the basics of security, privacy and confidentiality when using your computer and the internet. Other sites are overkill for the general public and many are vendor sites, where they have a vested interest in making you paranoid, so they can sell you their products. We're trying to strike a balance... partially educational, partially news and partially a link to products from a variety of vendors. So our question is whether we've achieved that goal? Yes, we're asking for free advice, but that's also what we provide to this site too, on a regular basis.

To be blatantly honest, I think all you're trying to do is utilize the security as a pretext to make some money off Google's AdSense.  The information you provide has some relevance, but it's widely available elsewhere.  if you want to really help small businesses - you need to get much more concise and much more precise.  There are different way to address security - one can spend inordinate amounts of money and get a heart attack worrying about every possible scenario or one can use common sense, get enough protection, for a small business, and do just fine (as vast majority of my clients do, even though I'm not a security expert).

If you really want to help small businesses - simply tell them what they need to protect themselves to a degree with antivirus, antispyware and some sort of firewall.  That can be shown on 1 page, if you really want to be of service and not confuse and distract.  Of course that approach would kind of limit your adsense displays and potential revenue, but that's what I'd recommend.  And if you do want to use this widely needed info as a way to make a buck - more power to you... just don't disguise it, that's all.
