Are there any drawbacks to internet-only banks such as ING?

usually any transfer of funds takes a day, or 24 hours to process. however, i have noticed that generally you can access your funds within a few hours. if you transfer funds from your ing account to your other bank and withdraw from thier atm, then no, there will be no $1.50 charge, unless your other bank charges a fee of thier own. i don't know however if there is a transfer fee from one bank to another, especially the bank you are withdrawing from. your best bet would be to go to an ing bank kiosk or 'branch', they do have them and talk face to face with one of thier reps. find thier location on the ing bank website.

i think the only drawback is that they have no bank machines and you pay the 1.50$ fee for every transaction. other than that, probrably not.

Do you mean $1.50 for every ATM transaction; or every transaction period?  I.e., if I make an electronic deposit to my ING acct., perhaps by transfering funds from my "brick building" bank to ING, would I pay $1.50 for that?

Also - is hard transferring as per the above?  Is there a long lag time before I could access the money?  I'm picturing, actually, transferring funds from ING to my "brick" bank, then getting the money in cash at an ATM that the brick bank wouldn't charge for.
