Livin in a small, backwoods, country, Southern town that's deep in a holler is like bein in Heaven.
Yes, a lot of soldiers come back from being in combat so traumatized that if we hear a specific type of sound(s) it causes us to relive our combat experience(s) to the point that we can't tell that we're actually back home and are safe now. Personally, I can't stand to be around gun shots, fireworks or any kind of explosions because of the fact that because I was in some horrendous combat zones in Bosnia in the mid-90's I developed a really bad case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) like a lot of guys who have spent a lot of time in really, really horrible combat zones (not like there's any that are horrible, but, some are worse than others). Humans aren't designed to endure that kind of horror and that kind of fear for that long without having serious mental problems as a direct result. So, yeah, a lot of us come home really messed up and some of us do hurt other people when we start reliving our combat experience(s). It ain't like we can help it and most people just can't understand what that's like to have to live with it every day. They can't unless they deal with it personally.
