So Whats the differentice bettween writing a book and a screen play ? which is better to do if one has  a hopefully hit idea? where does one look  for a How to start and write a book & or sceeplay  helpful website ideas?
How does one go about protecting and thing submited thay it won't be stolen and claimed by some other person it was there idear they wrote it etc

What make me laugh is person that are a every day person , just is right place and time and they get a book deal and and or both screen play. And they don;t have a lick of how to wirite about either. "Most people see things as they are, and ask, 'why'? But I think of things that never were, and ask, 'why not'?" -- George Bernard Shaw.

I would think if you want your idea to be made into a movie, that writing a screen-play would be best.  That way, if your idea is taken up by producers, they won't have to hire someone else to write the screen-play!  But if you find writing a screen-play difficult, writing the story in novel form is sure better than nothing!

After you finish, FIND YOURSELF AN AGENT!  I have come to believe that that is the crucial difference between being an amateur and a professional.  Because, an agent will not take someone on whom they think has no talent -- just having an agent shows the potential producers that someone other than the writer / writer's friends or family, believes there is talent in the writing.  To get a reputable agent, look for books listing talent agents in the library or on Amazon, etc.  SOME agents today charge "reading fees"....but many do not, and it's far more ethical for any agent to NOT charge any fees at all, until the book / screenplay has been sold.  THEN, and ONLY then, do they get their 20%!

A great guide for where to sell your work -- if you can't find an agent -- is WRITER'S MARKET -- an annual publication that comes out in several editions.  There are literally (!) thousands of listings of where to sell, and how to properly sell, everything from greeting cards to movie scripts there!  It is a valuable resource!

If you write to, or "google", the Copyright Office, in the Us, they can send you forms on how to copyright your work.  They ask a small fee, and require two copies of your work.

The best way I have found to improve one's writing is to READ good books!  The style of the writer begins to "rub off" on you!  If you don't want to have any fear of being accused of plaigerising someone else's style, (although I don't think that "plagerising" someone else's style is an offense)....read two or three different WELL-WRITTEN stories, plays, or screen-plays by authors with different styles.  All their styles will eventually combine with your own, original style....and you'll be a better writer!

Hope this helps!  I'll eagerly be awaiting the premiere of your movie!  : )

Laugh more: tears cloud one's vision.

I hate to tell you, but writing and art are things you want to do, but you do not do so for money.

I have over 2 million words in published nonfiction already.  Writing is the toughest profession that exists.

I suggest that you talk to Writers Digest School and see what their professional instructors can do with you.

"I hate to tell you, but writing and art are things you want to do, but you do not do so for money."

Well, yes and no. Writing and art are both businesses, and I do what I do for money. That's the reality. The second reality is, even if I weren't getting paid, I'd still do art and write because it's all I CAN do. Writing, art, it's not just what I do, it's what I am, it's my self identity, and has been all my life.

The ugly truth no one likes to discuss is that most, not all, but most, writers and artists, creative people in general, are mentally damaged in one way or another. Depression is the most common problem, but there's a wide range. We have a very high rate of alcoholism, drug addiction and suicide. Relationships are problematic because we are neither easily understood or terribly easy to live with unless you do understand us. This is NOT an easy profession. We're overly sensitive, gentle, usually shy people whom the world doesn't treat terribly well. It's that spark of creativity inside us that keeps us sane, keeps us going, helps us survive the slings and arrows. That's our soul and spirit. That's the thing that makes us what we are.

Fate will not be denied.  Destiny is what you make it.  Never confuse the two.

Bone Structure, perhaps we are not cut from the same bolt of fabric.

Terri and I have been happily married forty years this December, we have four daughters, and they have given us nine of the most beautiful grandchildren you have ever seen.

I will admit that I deal with some of the weirdest people on the planet, seemingly possessed people who seem to think that they have a "unique message to the world."  Sadly, most have such a twisted "message" that I cannot in good conscience place their work in my gallery.

I will admit that some of my colleagues have ended their lives.  Some were also abusive, drug addicted, drunken, check bouncing misfits whose primary address was the county jail.  I cannot include these people in my list of represented artists.  Even if the law did not compel me to this, I would have done it anyway.

Irresponsibility does not a professional artist make.

I don't just deal in art as submitted to Free Spirit Gallery.  I commission art for advertising copy, book covers, signs, and much more.  To know that I can count on the artist to deliver, I must first know that he is professional enough to put his own prejudices aside and create what should be created.  Professional working artists get done on schedule and make it look good too.

That is why I have recall lists of artists in all the arts.  That includes music, again mostly jingles for radio ads.

I have long kept my net site relegated to artists on my recall list: they must sign releases that they will not release this carefully guarded net address, because it contains material not yet protected by copyright.

That takes stable, disciplined, creative thinkers, who are in the arts as a profession, not just an emotional outlet.

May your artistic career be a consistent and productive one.
