Information technologies and connection between freedom and privacy

With the approach to new information technologies what is the connection between liberty and privacy?

It is clear that the implications of the new information technologies affect personal privacy. Recently there was a story in the New York Times on the future development of a "new hire" database aimed to& locate; elusive deadbeat parents who don't pay child support, and how such database could be used for illegitimate purposes as well.

New information technologies give rise to the classic double edged sword: their benefits are clear but they might be misused in order to abuse personal privacy and for purposes of social control. Law experts are trying now to constitute a framework which enables the benefits of these technologies while minimizing its negative consequences. However, information technologies are advancing at such a  pace that laws are not keeping up. There is an increased public access to computerized public records through the internet, many of them containing personally identifiable information. A recent poll of internet users found that 75% of respondents believe there are privacy problems in putting public records with personally identifiable information on the Internet, even though they can obtain them in manual form.

And of course, there is a problem of increasing integration of data from many sources, along with the blurring of distinction between public and private sector data.

I suppose having served in 2 wars and seen the results of firefights, RPGs, IEDs and Suicide/Homicide bombers I have changed my tune related to how much privacy I need.  Also with the way America is going and with so many within our country who want our demise, again I have seen and smelled the results, I am not so obstinate with the thought.

I have nothing to hide anyway.  I have been stripped down at the airport coming home from Europe and it was no big deal because I would rather strip to my undies than to have my ass blown off or worse.  I only keep enough money in the bank to pay my bills the rest is in cash eleswhere.  I already pulled my 401k and my investments because I know what this new administration has planned for people like me.  Now I am not suggesting everyone do that it would collapse us for sure, but for me it was the right thing to do.  So if they want to check that part of my life out there is nothing to check.

If they want to get into my computer, they do that sort of thing all the time anyway even on sites like this when we believe ourselves to be using our Freedom of Speech.  I suppose I will have to be more Politically Correct in my comments being as I have been staunchly against Mr. Obama and I do have concerns over his Civilian National Guard bigger than our military perhaps turning into a Gestapo and gathering my buns up and putting me in a Dentention Center for sins against the Messiah/Mezmeizer.  This may not just be sarcasm being as we are headed for Socialism, Communism or Obamanism.

My phone well I use my cell phone all the time and if they want those conversations they can have at it.  If I don't want them to hear I will find other ways around everything.

I will tell you being in the medical field the government is already forcing docs even in Private Practice and hospitals, clinics etc etc etc to use computers and put all their notes into their data bases.  Used to be we threw out records or destroyed them after 7years, so since they could not get the medical chip in our arms they are forcing our medical records to be accessable to them anyway.  Lots of the older docs are leaving the field because they refuse to do this.  It is interesting to say the least and Futurehype to say the most.  We are living the SiFi we used to read.

I believe our Liberties as we once knew them most assuredly will be affected and the reins drawn in.  However as long as I am still free to travel I will find joy in living.  It is for certain, my humble opinion, our privacy will be put to the test, especially those who make themselves voices of decent or do not run with the crowd.  Therefore I intend to find other methods of doing or saying anything that would bring suspicion on me and I am sure as resourceful and intelligent as so many are today, for example my son and computers, we will survive whatever bonds they attempt to put on us.  Remember the Christians undergrounds, well this is a great big country, I have traveled it from stem to stern and if it all gets too hot in the cities, towns and hamlets I will head for those big mts and caves I know so well and they will not find or pester me.  I imagine I will have lots of company if things really get bad.

Well this most certainly should land me sometime on the Black List if anyone is watching this site to see who loves Obama and who can not tolerate the sound of his name or voice.  Or who is planning a revolt against the New America and the New Globalization.  Guess I ought to start practicing my descreet methods.
