I had gastric bypass surgery almost 5 years ago and still am having difficulty eating and drinking. I am researching reversal or also known as take down surgery. Any information would help me. Thank you-Joan

My sister just had this operation. She is doing very well but only had operation a couple months ago. She says she feels much better. Did you lose alot of weight? I know that the stomach is made smaller so you get full faster...you say you are having trouble eating and drinking...are you keeping it down?
Thank you for answering so quickly-I have had difficultly since day 1-Over the past 5 years I have had 12 dilatations to try and stretch the opening to the pouch-Without success-Finally on April 22 my doctor took me back to surgery to seal off the current opening and make a new one-He told me that the surgery would take about an hour and would leave me with a smaller pouch--The surgery actually took 6 hours one complications after another and a pouch--that is so small it takes me 2 hours to drink my protein shake (6 oz) I just feel like I made the biggest mistake of my life--I have put my family through so much--I chose to have WLS to have a better quality of life--but instead I'm miserable and depressed most of the time. I live in Niagara Falls, NY but truly would go anywhere to find the right doctor. Thank you for listening to my story.
Joan, That is a sad story. I think you are right on finding the right doctor though. My sister lives in Massachusetts and evidently had the right doctor but NY is quite the haul. You can research doctors online though. It tells you their stats. Did you at least lose weight? 5 years is a long time. Yeah, you definitely should talk to someone (maybe even a lawyer).
Yes, I did lose 180 lbs--I actually have family in Massachusetts-Did your sister have her surgery at the Mass General? If possible I would love to talk to her--My email is howeskj1@verizon.net--Thank you so very much-Joan
Joan, I will let her know. 180 lbs. That's great! (I think anyway) Hope all is well.
