My Infant Daughter was Injured under Hospital Care

My daughter who is now 9 months old, was burned when she was 5 days old by an IV Infiltration. She has a bad scar across her wrist which limits her mobility and sometimes swells on one side. I have been looking for lawyers who would possibily take the case, but everyone that I have talked to, either don't handle those cases or say they will get back with me. So, I was wondering do I have a case aganist the Hospital that was handling her care?

2 thumbs up

You probably do have some sort of case due to the mobility restrictions. What you need to realize is that IV infiltrations are very common and a lot of times unavoidable. The big thing is how long it took them to realize it had happened. When an IV infiltrates it's not always obvious either. However, IV's should be checked soon after they are started to make sure that it hasn't infiltrated. Usually, within a few minutes you can tell the infiltration when the skin starts to "swell" (which is caused by the fluid going into the skin not the vein), and the redness the accompanies it. It sounds like someone wasn't paying attention, which would be more of a ground to stand on in court.

I hope this helps a little.
