In the winter issue of "Your Business" they discuss a few ways to increase employee productivity. Some of the ways mentioned were:

Warehouse club memberships: They run under $100 a year and your employees can use this perk year round.

Food day: Bring in a selection of fruit, pastries or other snacks and put them in the break room.

Free or discounted tickets: this can be for the movies, ballet, theater or sporting events.

Surprise bonuses: let their peers nominate each other and hold a drawing for prizes, these can be as simple as a gift certificate to a restaurant, a massage, mall gift certificate or any of a hundred other items.

Health club memberships: healthy employees are more productive.

Monthly birthday celebrations: Bring a cake in once a month to celebrate the birthdays for that month.

Extra time off: Give an occasional half day off with pay.

There is even a company that allows it employees to fill out a $50 certificate as a way of saying thanks to another employee for going above and beyond. The employee turns in the certificate and the $50 is added to their next paycheck. This is of course is at the expense of the company. This particular company averages three such certificates per employee each year.

Of course there are many other ways to improve productivity also. Try using praise, goal setting, empowerment in making decisions and a good office environment.

Here are some sites that may guide you in the direction you desire to go.

It never hurts also to brush up on our own management and coaching skills, employees work harder for a boss that they respect.

Good luck and best wishes.

P.S. Have any openings?Wink
